Day 3. How Does he do it? OR Watching Kelsey teach

After breakfast this morning, cereal btw, we walked around the mission compound. At the workshop we found a team of Dutch Mechanics working on the missionaries' cars. The team is here for a month giving the vehicles some much needed service.
I had never thought about where cashews come from, other than a store, but now I know they come from trees. Also that they are attached to some cashew fruit. The fruit doesn't taste too bad, although I think it's an acquired taste. (and I haven't acquired it yet).
After our walk, we attended Kelsey's 7th grade science class and learned about nutrition.  Yes, I got some ideas to use in my own classes. Lunch time was next.  I'll tell you more about the afternoon and tortillas making later.

Day 2. Wow, do you feel the shudders?

After arriving in Guinea at about 7 pm, we were driven to Daniel and Stefanie's house, missionaries in Conakry, for a night's stay. They were great hosts for weary travelers. When 10 pm rolled around we were plenty tired, even though that would only be 6pm Michigan time. The other photo is a picture of a boy coming to the courtyard to get water. We stayed in a 2nd floor apartment. The first floor is a church. The water spigot belongs to the church, but they make it available to the neighborhood, kind of like sharing their well.  It part of the philosophy of Guineans with sharing water.

Day 1 (How's that for scintillating? Bet you can wait to read more!

Welcome to Guinea. No, it wasn't foggy. That's what happens to the camera lens when it goes from the cool airplane air to the hot humid air of Guinea. Taking this picture almost cost us our camera. One of the Guinean army members spotted the camera and proceeded to claim it because we shouldn't be taking pictures at the airport. Actually, he was looking for some money from us to get our camera back. But since he didn't speak English and we don't speak French, the negotiations didn't go well for him. Finally he got tired of us asking for our camera back and returned it to us.
Our travels went great. No problems with customs or security. Although we didn't anticipate going thru security again at the Paris airport after going thru at Detroit, so we got caught with a water bottle at security and had to drink it down before we could go on.
